I call my cable tangle a 'fragile eco system' the slightest disturbance could have a devastating effect on the rest of the system (that, and the wires seem to grow like some kind of plant)

Ah, German... I love that language. "Cable salad" is a much better word than the English phrase for a mess of cables: "rats nest" - hehe.
