I find the waste implied in this to be faintly obscene.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that a simple paring knife would suffice.

I think it looks pretty fabulous! Besides, no one eats the apple core.

what about the apple itself? will anyone eat it after it served its purpose of decoration? people starving and a designer spending time creating something stupid like this... a shame.

I think apple thing is a great idea. If you've got a compost bin then you've already considered the apples second life! It's also the sort of 'left over' a guinea pig goes wild for.
